OPEN DIALOGUE FOR PSYCHOSIS - ONLINE CONFERENCE ON 28/29 SEPTEMBER 2021

At this conference there will be two keynote presentations and 10 workshops led by authors of different chapters in the book. The conference is being organised such that it is possible for people in Europe and beyond to join in the evening and people in the US/Canada/Latin America and elsewhere to join during the daytime.

On 28 September Nick Putman will give a keynote presentation introducing the Open Dialogue approach and what he considers to be the aspects of the approach that distinguish it from other approaches/services. A panel will reflect on the presentation and there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions. There will then be workshops on Open Dialogue service development in hospitals, research from Western Lapland, Open Dialogue training, peer workers in Open Dialogue and comparing Open Dialogue to other approaches.

On 29 September Jaakko Seikkula will give a keynote presentation on working with people having psychotic experiences and what he considers to be particularly important aspects of the Open Dialogue practitioner’s role in such work. Again, a panel will reflect on the presentation and there will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions. There will then be workshops on Open Dialogue service development in the community, the practice of facilitating network meetings, Open Dialogue and the biomedical model, research from the UK and the HOPEnDialogue project, and Open Dialogue service development in the US.
